Assaha is a unique place. It is a castle looking building, built like a traditional Lebanese village. You have the souks, a hotel, people preparing coffee and saj the traditional way, etc. It has been chosen by important people sleep or eat, as shown in the photos on the entrance: kings and presidents of the regions have been there.

The restaurant is simply huge and is worth visiting. You can choose between a big open air square with its impressive fountains, or eat inside, which has been decorated with great care: nothing looks fake, I can’t imagine how much money they spent to build such a place. Talking about the food, Assaha serves traditional Lebanese food: mezze, grills and specialties. The service is correct if there are not too much people, but beware: during Ramadan the restaurant is mostly full and waiters often makes mistakes, so it probably is the case for other occasions.

However, if you can pass through this, you’ll enjoy a great mind-changing moment here.

We went there for an eftar. The food was really not enough: they served only one small fattouch for 7 people, there were not enough soup for everyone, one kettle of jellab for all of us. The only thing that was generous was mjaddara and it was not delicious.
They also insisted on serving the main course while we were beginning with the starters although there were no place on the table. The service in general was rough.

I've been eating at Assaha three times last two years and it was every time great: service and food was good and the place is really unique! I like to bring there my friends which are not used to go to the southern part of Beirut, so they see that there are nice things in this neighborhood. It's a must see!
