Balima – Saifi

Charming and peaceful café restaurant

Saifi, Beirut

Between 15$ and 25$

Review by Souad

Balima is a charming café restaurant that makes you travel while sitting in the heart of Beirut. Its terrace on the internal square of Saifi village make you feel in a typical square café in a European city and allows you to relax in very comfortable couches. In addition to the terrace, the restaurant has an inner lobby with a Zen design.

Balima serves French salads, sandwiches, quiches (baked dish based on custard in a pastry crust) and of course drinks and desserts. We found the salads and sandwiches good whereas the quiches were a little too heavy. Service is friendly and quick and reinforces the feeling of being abroad. Prices are expensive regarding what is offered.

The restaurant also sells contemporary furniture, so don’t be shocked with the prices in the last pages of the menu!

If you feel like going somewhere different and add a little occidental touch to your day, Balima is a good place to go.

Balima is one of the most quiet and charming places in beirut. In downtown, yet far from all the shopping crowds and loud traffic. Artistic area...designers and creations in the happening. very inspiring.
Food is simply divine.... yet staff is very very under-trained..... menue is ALWAYS missing items which are not available... and VERY overpriced.
Its location is the only reason for anyone to want to go there. If its a good meal you are looking for with a FAIR price..... its definitly NOT the place for you.

I like to go to this place as it is nice to sit in the center of Saifi. However, it is a bit expensive compared to what you can get and he is often out of stock of what you choose on his menu.

A similar story as Patricia had just happened with us.
A female waiter was very rude and impolite with us. I think it is our right to complain about bad and unprofessional service!!!!
We left a comment on the bill saying: "Thanks you for your amazing service!!". When she knew about it, she replied to us in front of her supervisor "bala zoo2"!!!!
