Simple and modern Lebanese cuisine

Zaatar w Zeit is the Lebanese fast-food to try. Open since 1999, they aim to satisfy the need of the many to eat good Lebanese mankousheh!

Lot of different flavors are available on top of a Saj or Mankousheh, of course you’ll find the traditional zaatar and cheese, but also chicken or other original ideas. They also serve a bunch of modernized mezze and dishes.

All branches provide comfortable and cozy environment, where I like to enjoy a quick lunch the Lebanese way. I’m rarely disappointed! Notice that the prices rose a bit lately, making them a bit over-average. But that’s the price of quality ingredients I guess.

Trendy diner chain

Crepaway’s first diner was founded by an ambitious Lebanese young man in 1984. Over the years, the restaurant grew into a chain with many branches in four countries.

The diner serves a variety of International dishes including crepes of course. The quality and variety of food are impeccable which make you forgive their over the average prices. Service is caring and polite while decoration is warm and confortable.

Breathtaking view on the megastore's Rooftop

Located on the rooftop of the Virgin Megastore, in Downtown Beirut, this café and restaurant is a nice spot for a meal or a drink. If you reserve a good table, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view on the martyrs square and the port.

They serve a menu of International specialties, including their own specialty: the Salmon Burger. It’s quite expensive, but you’ll enjoy an exceptional location, allowing to take a great break during your cultural shopping. The service wasn’t particularly attentive, we had to ask many times before we finally got the menu and someone took our order.

Beware that the place is only opened during the summer season.

Lebanese fish restaurant on the beach

The restaurant is one of the many in Edde Sands resort. It has an internal lobby and a terrace right next to the beach. The decoration goes very well with this location.

Food is well prepared: mezze are delicious and nicely presented, grills are tender and tasty and fish are from the day’s catch as the name of the restaurant implies. Since the restaurant stands to the freshness of its fish, it may run out of choice for diner. Prices are within average range, but the bill will easily get high if you order fish.

During weekends evenings, la Pêche du Jour hosts nice musical performances. The ambiance is enjoyable, except when there are weddings or events in the neighboring venues, because all musics are heard together from the restaurant.

Original Lebanese café restaurant

In the heart of Hamra, this restaurant by Boubess Group is first distinguishable by its original decoration: vivid colors on the walls and chairs, nice tables with traditional arabesques. You feel yourself in an Arabic version of international chains, which I must admit has been set up very successfully. Apart from the decoration, the music also fits well with the place, during our visit they played nicely modernized versions of Arabic songs of the 70s, lovely.

Talking about the food, they serve Lebanese dishes, plat-du-jour and desserts. There is more variety than the traditional mezze we find everywhere. Our order was very good, as was the freshly squeezed juice and the dessert. The service was nice and polite.

The only complain would be about the odor of smoke, which some may find inappropriate while eating, but that’s part of Lebanese tradition.

A famous restaurant in a street of the same name, Abdel Wahab serves typical Lebanese food in a nicely traditionally decorated place.

Food is very good, without being exceptional, and service is attentive. The price is well above average, but this is worth it: the restaurant is famous and needs to keep its reputation, so you’ll not be disappointed.
