Momo at the Souks has an excellent location in the heart of Beirut Souks. The restaurant is at the first floor with an entrance directly from the Jewelery souk. The decor is amazing mixing morrocan and modern styles. During summer, you can enjoy its terrace filled with green overlooking the souks. The table settings, the atmosphere and the decor are faultless.
A fusion menu mixing Morrocan and French will be waiting for you at Momo. The menu is almost divided between French and Morrocan dishes. In addition to the traditional musts in both cuisines, you can find some innovative dishes. Prices are high following the stading of the restaurant.
We opted for Morrocan during our visit. We ordered chakchouka, harira, mushroom couscous and meat couscous. The food was perfectly presented and portions were generous. The food was Ok, but being a lover of Morrocon cuisine, I was disappointed by the dishes. I found the taste not strong enough, lacking spices and flavours. One weird detail is that the mushroom couscous came without any mushroom in it.
The service was attentive and courteous although I didn’t like that the waiter asked us if we prefer still or sparkling water instead of asking first if we want water at all, knowing that their water is relatively expensive.
Overall, Momo at the Souks offers a nice and classy setting that you can enjoy if you don’t mind the high bill and you’re not fanatic about Morrocan cuisine.Write a Review
