Warde – Hamra
Home-made Lebanese and western cuisine in a warm atmosphere
Details
Review by Jean
This restaurant, which opened years ago in a traditional Lebanese house, 200m away from Hamra’s main street, is famous for its eclectic night events, ranging from Tango, Bossa Nova to DJs and Rock Bands.
The food they serve has the taste of home-made cuisine, like we hardly found in any other restaurants in Beirut. Wardeh and Alissar prepare for you western and Lebanese plat-du-jour: beef Stroganov, pieds de moutons, stuffed cabbages leaves and Daoud basha are few examples of things you may try there. They also provide a-la-carte mezze and traditional dishes, salads, pastries and desserts.
The prices are really correct, if not a bit below average, and the service is friendly.
Unfortunately, the restaurant lost some of its charm by moving to a more modern place recently, but the cuisine is still the same.
